Summer 2009, Cumberland, Ontario
It has been a very busy Summer. We've been staying at the Recreationland RV Park in Cumberland, Ontario. The weather over the entire first half, was very cool and rainy. The second half has been somewhat better.
Cumberland, Ontario
The community was named for the Duke of Cumberland.
Former and merged community names include:
Faubertville • Osborne
The community was founded, as a township, in 1799.
In 1969, Cumberland became part of Ottawa-Carleton, a regional municipality.
In 1999, Cumberland became a city.
In 2001, along with a host of other communities, the former township of Cumberland was amalgamated into the city of Ottawa.
Local festivals include:
• Pancake Festival - March 31-April 1, 2007
• Heritage Power & Country Festival - May 26-27, 2007
